Live Performance Excerpts from Tony’s interdisciplinary musical Theatre works AND the Qadar Opera/Documentary.

Qadar The Opera & Documentary

Tony was commissioned by the Sultanate of Oman and Smithsonian to compose and write the libretto for Qadar; somehow he also found time to compose all of the orchestration for the opera. It was created to demystify Arabic culture and address xenophobia while simultaneously introducing the music traditions of Oman & Zanzibar through a seamless exchange of African and Arabic multidisciplinary arts using the vernacular of opera. The world renowned Denyce Graves served as Artistic Director for the Opera.

SHORT CLIP from the Qadar Documentary Opera featuring one of the leads Tariq Al-Sabir (Peabody Conservatory), Jeremy Gold Kroenberg (Stage Director), Duke Ellington Performing Arts School Chorus, Denyce Graves and Peabody Conservatory Students.

THE ENTIRE DOCUMENTARY: The making of this video installation (that included Duke Ellington Performing Arts School and THEARC) and documentary was provided through a $75,000 grant that Tony wrote for the Boys & girls Clubs of Greater Washington.
